pre + Post Care

for Lashes, Tans & Chemical Peels

With a few simple care instructions, you'll be sure to enjoy your new, luscious lashes. To increase the retention (longevity) of your lashes, it is advised to avoid oily products and touching them as much as possible.

  • If you use waterproof mascara, avoid using it 2-3 days before your first appointment. The film it leaves on your lashes may prevent the extensions from adhering correctly.

  • Arrive to your appointment with dry, clean lashes and makeup-free eyes.

  • Remove contact lenses before your appointment and bring your glasses!

  • Avoid caffeine, as this can cause fluttering and twitching of the eye which could lead to burning and discomfort from the adhesive.

  • Be prepared to lie down with your eyes very still for 2-3 hours for the first appointment.

  • Skin sensitivities and allergies are extremely rare and your safety and care are of my utmost concern. We use the highest quality products and the most up-to-date techniques and sanitation protocols in the industry. However Ash’s Lashes Etc. is not liable for reaction due to our products. If you are concerned, I recommend a patch test several days before your appointment.

Now that you have the BEST lashes in town, take note of these tips to maintain & care for them. With proper care and touchups your lashes can last weeks!

  • FOR LIFTS & TINTS: avoid oils and getting lashes wet for 24 hours. After 24 hours, the lashes are maintenance and hassle free! You may apply mascara and makeup as you wish.

  • Do not use a spa, sauna or pool for the first 24 hours. The extensions need that amount of time to properly bond.

  • Avoid tugging or rubbing your eyes.

  • Avoid sleeping face down!

  • Do not use eyelash curlers with your extensions.

  • ONLY use an oil-free makeup remover.

  • If your lashes are tangled or crossed over, use the spoolie given to you during your appointment to gently brush them straight and brush them in place. You're in control!

  • Proper hygiene is very important. Please keep lashes clean by regular cleansing. We have a special foaming lash bath cleanser available for purchase in the studio. A little goes a long way and it will last months!

  • After showering, avoid rubbing lashes. It is best to blot them with a towel and let them air dry. Then brush them into place! You can also dry the lashes by using a hair dryer on the cool setting and blow them dry from underneath. It helps your lashes fluff back  up!

  • Use care when applying facial and eye creams to avoid the lash line. Use oil-free sunscreen and moisturizers. Too many oil-based products can break down the adhesive.

  • Ash's Lashes Etc. recommends touch-up appointments every two to three weeks to maintain your new lash extensions.

  • Please shave your legs the night before your tan. If you wax your legs, please plan do so 2-3 days prior.

  • Moisturize really well before bed.

  • Exfoliate THOROUGHLY as well. This will remove dead skin and provide a new, smooth surface for your tan. Exfoliating helps to promote even coverage and lengthens the duration of the tan.

  • DO NOT USE DOVE PRODUCTS! Dove soap and Dove lotions leave a film on your skin that directly leads to a blotchy tan.

  • Review and Sign the Release Form (We will have this for you the day of your spray tan service).

  • Remove make-up, moisturizer, perfume and deodorant before you arrive to your appointment.

  • It is recommended that you wear dark, loose fitting clothing, such as a simple dress. Solution washes out of most clothing very easily but tends to stain nylon and Lycra materials; therefore, dark colored underwear is recommended.

  • A woman’s tan can be directly affected by her hormones. Considering her cycle, it can cause blotchiness or the color not to develop as dark as normally. It’s not common, but it happens.

  • Oily skin types usually develop lighter and require an extra spray after 24-48 hours to get your base color.

  • Let your tan set for at least 6-8 hours {for original organic tan solution} and 4-6 hours {for rapid organic tan solution} before showering or taking a bath . This allows your tan to develop.

  • Avoid wearing socks or shoes after your tanning session in order to allow the tan to develop properly on your feet.

  • Avoid applying moisturizers or deodorants until after you rinse your developed tan.

  • Avoid wearing tight clothing for at least 5 hours. This includes tighter-fitting jeans, bras, spandex, tight blouses and shoes/socks.

  • All swimming, showering and vigorous exercise must be avoided as sweating can inhibit the development of your tan. All activities may resume after developed tan is rinsed after the designated develop time.

  • Do not shave for 12 hours after your treatment.

  • Beware wearing long boots after tanning as these can make your tan patchy on your legs.

When you take a shower or a bath after your spray tan develops, you will probably see some color wash off. Don’t worry. This is quite normal as it is only the color guide that the spray tan technician uses when the tan is applied. You will be left with a gorgeous tan.

It is recommended you follow these general guidelines to maintain your tan:

  • Moisturize regularly.

  • Avoid long hot baths and showers as these speed up exfoliation.

  • Pat your skin dry after a bath or shower. Rubbing your skin may rub off your tan.

  • Avoid swimming pools and salt water, as these can reduce your tan.

  • Try to always have a fresh new razor for shaving.
